Alanbeck Junction |
|
Alanbeck Junction is intended to portray a small part of the British railway network
during the years 2000 to 2003. It is situated where a busy cross-country route intersects a double track main line.
Hence the nearby town station is an important passenger interchange with most trains calling. The loop situated
between the junction and the station is used by trains needing to run-round and is also the connection to the freight sidings. Traffic is both heavy and varied. Passenger trains include inter-city, cross-country and provincial services. Freight trains range from heavy block workings such as aggregates and coal to lighter wagonload services and trip workings. Mail traffic also uses this route. Motive power is representative of the period, ranging from life-expired Class 37 and 47's to state of the art Class 66's. Other typical haulage is provided by the likes of HST's, Class 158's, and Classes 56 and 60. |
