Bassenthwaite Lake

Bassenthwaite Lake is based on the Cockermouth, Keswick & Penrith railway station at the north end of the lake. The station Master's house still stands beside the A66. Trains from the 1950's and 1960's are operated. The layout is an attempt to show that a small, train set oval can also look good and provide some interesting modelling.

The passing loops at the front of the layout are a visible 'staging yard', a typical American concept which allows operation of the layout from the front, making it suitable for operation both at home and at exhibitions. The additional fiddle yard to the left of the layout allows a greater variety of trains to be run at exhibitions.
