Oakwell Central

Set somewhere in the midlands to the south east of Nottingham in the mid 1930's, Oakwell is one of those towns not quite large enough to be on a direct main line route to London, but yet sufficiently important to warrant a medium sized station. The town does enjoy through services to the capital, with trains from King's Cross splitting at Grantham and those from marylebone doing the same at leicester. This allows me to run relatively short trains of corridor stock behind secondary passenger locomotives.

The town has a small goods yard with a much larger marshalling yard just 'off stage' thereby leading to plenty of light engine movements. The line was originally built by the Great Northern and Great central with infrastructure based on the GN.
