Penton in the Dale

This is the club's British outline N gauge layout. It was originally conceived and built as a terminus to fiddle yard layout, set somewhere in the Pennines, with a double track sweeping into a four platform station.

However, as the layout's builders changed around it was extensively rebuilt and transformed into a through station. In its current form, the original double track approach has been retained also the station's four platforms, though one of them is a bay. Unusually, the three through lines converge into a single line which plunges into a tunnel for the return to the fiddle yard.

After some frantic work on the electrics and scenery, the layout was successfully exhibited at the club's 2010 exhibition and is currently awaiting further scenic work.
